U13 Fleet Town Gladiators 3 Windlesham Wildcats 0 (SPL Premier League)
The Gladiators started 2013 with a well deserved 3-0 victory against Windlesham Wildcats with goals from Tom Ellis, Debutant Matthew Familoe & a superb strike from Finlay Knights. MOM was awarded to Sam Amiri for a commanding display in Midfield and Effort Award went to Marcus James for his faultless defending

U13 Windlesham Wildcats 1 Fleet Town Gladiators 0 (SPL Premier League)
The Gladiators lost their winning start to the season in the league with a narrow loss against a strong Windlesham side. MOM went to Tiarnan Power with a solid perfomance in defence and Effort Award went to Sam Amiri for his disrtibution and strength in Midfield. As previous encounters against Windlesham we had the lion's share of the posession and passing neatly but unfortunately we rarely troubled the opposition's goalkeeper whereas Windlesham were more effective in front of goal and could have scored more if it wasn't for our defence and some brilliant saves from Andrew in goal. Hopefully the boys will be back on form next week

U13 Goldsworth Park 3 Fleet Town Gladiators 2 (Cup)
The Gladiators unbeaten start to the season came to an underserved end when we lost 3-2 after extra time is the 1st round of the SPL League Cup. The boys were very unlucky today and on another day would & could have come out confincing winners after having the majority share of the play and the most goal attempts. Unfortunately luck wasn't on our side with all 3 x goals conceeded having an element of luck about them (especially the 2nd scored so close to the end of the game to take it into extra time & 3rd in extra time) where clearances deflecting off players and falling to the opposition players to put the ball into an empty net!. The Gladiators unbeaten start to the season came to an underserved end when we lost 3-2 after extra time is the 1st round of the SPL League Cup. Goals from Tom Ellis & Luke Robinson were not enough against tough opposition. MOM went to Andrew Pope for his command of the area and could not be faulted for any of the goals. Effort award went to Ben Short for a solid & composed display in defence. Once again all of the boys played some fantastic football and ultimately played the price for not taking our chances and making the game safe when we were in control of the game. Goldsworth Park are a very strong side with some very good players and I'm sure that they will progress far in the cup so nothing to be ashamed of today.

U13 Burpham Eagles 1 Fleet Town Gladiators 6 (SPL Premier League)
Another ouststanding performance from the Gladiators saw them secure a confincing 6-1 victory against a strong Burpham side and extend their unbeaten start to the season to 5 games. Top scorer Tom Ellis returned to the side with a well taken hatrick, with the othre goals coming from MOM Harry Winkley, Alex Wilson and Effort Award winner Sam Amiri. The score could have be more if were not from the impressive Burpham keeper and us hitting the woodwork a couple of times. Well done again boys another great gane to watch played in good spirits by both sides.

U13 Chamberlyne AFC 1 Fleet Town Gladiators 2 (Cup)
It was always going to be tough today with a very depleted side due to the abscence of Top Scorer Tom & defence rock Tiarnan, and with Finlay also being forced out though injury at training and Andrew in goal nursing a sprained wrist and being forced to play (by his mean dad!!!) the odds were stacked against us. So we drafted in Jonny Gammer to bolster the numbers and to make sure that we could actually play the game (as he couldn't make the trip with the Spartans to their game on the IOW) But with only the bare 11 players and no subs to be able to call upon the boys played out of their skins and the passing throughout the whole team was a joy for all of us who were watching. The Gladiators went behind after 25 minutes when our midfiled and defence switched off and the Chamberlyne forward struck the ball well into the bottom of the net (unstoppable even with a fully fit goalie) But the boys did not panic and stuck to their game plan and patiently passed the ball around and got their just rewards early in the 2nd half when Marcus struck a fantastic goal from distance. From that point onwards the Gladiators confidence grew and wave after wave of attacks were stopped by the stubbon opposition's defence. Just as we all thought the game was going to go into extra time - Sam finally found the target with one of his many shots and superbly flighted the ball into the top of the net - even a professional keeper would have srtuggled to keep that one out. Well done boys - even the opposition commented that we were the best team that they've ever played against - which is a compliment to each and every one of you. Who could have asked for a better start to the season from the team with 4 wins out of 4 - unfortunately we now have a 3 week wait until our next game due to our bye in the 1st round of the SPL league cup and half term. Hopefully though we will be up to full numbers for our next game

U13 Fleet Town Gladiators 4 Staines Lammas Whites 2 (SPL Premier League)
Tom Ellis summed up the game after the final whistle when he said "we made hard work of that" having looked comfortable winning 3-0 up with 5 minutes to go only for 2 x lapses in concentration to enable the opposition to bring the score back to 3-2 before Harry secured the win with a shot that came of his "private parts" as he put it and into the back of the net.

U13 Oxshott Royals 2 Fleet Town Gladiators 3 (SPL Premier League)
The Gladiators got their Premier league campaign off with deserved 3 points against a strong Oxshott side with another 2 goals fromTom Ellis and the other bundled into the net by Luke Robinson. MOM award was shared between Tom Ellis for playing the front line perfectly and Tiarnan Power for a faultless performance in defence. Effort Award went to Alex Wilson for his all round performance all over the pitch (left back, left wing & central midfield) This was a brilliant performance from all the players today in very tough conditions due to the torrential rain. Right from the back in goal & defence right up to the foward line. Once again the passing was fantastic and a real joy to watch

U13 Fleet Town Gladiators 13 AFC Hiltingbury Hurricanes 0 (Cup)
The Gladiators progressed into the next round of the Hampshire County Cup with a resounding victory with Hatricks from Harry Winkley, Simran Lall & MOM Tom Ellis. There were also 2 goals from Sam Amiri, 1 from Effort Award Winner Finlay Knights and Andrew Pope finished the scoring when he made a rare appearance out of Goal in the last 5 minutes of the game.
