 Team Biography

Team Knights U 10’s are a combination of last years U9’s Knights and Trojans. Whilst this union may be a historical impossibility it has worked very well for us both in terms of positioning on the pitch and squad camaraderie too. Michael and Will have been sharing goalkeeping responsibilities (not at the same time obviously) whilst defence and midfield has been made up of; Josh, George K, Ollie, Dan the Man, Tommo and Sammy Mac. Striking has so far been up to Sam P and Ben “Keano” L.

So far the squad has shown real tenacity, coming from behind on more than one occasion. Focus at training is currently on avoiding going behind in the first place with a view to reducing heart rates to normal levels of parent supporters and the Coach. Training focus going forward will also major on synchronizing goal celebrations and learning the Team song which is to be sung at ear splitting volume on the journey to away fixtures; “WE ARE THE KNIGHTS, WE ARE THE KNIGHTS, WE ARE WE ARE WE ARE THE KNIGHTS…”

Manager Bio

John Gawthrop

Not quite old enough to remember 1966, I was a keen youth footballer until personal tradegy curtailed my career- the manager told me I was rubbish. Since then I have thrown myself into T.V punditry, and can often be found objectively challenging Alan Hansen and Mark Lawrenson on a Saturday night, or a Sunday morning if we've been out and I 've recorded it.

I have been training/managing the Knights (previously Kestrles) since my son Tom started playing as an under 6. Living and working in Fleet I am keen to promote the social and community aspect of the Club as I feel it is a real focal point for local youth. My elder son Joe also went through the ranks at Fleet and at the age of 20 now is really pleased that it gave him an outlet and created a social network for him outside of school which has meant in his own words that he "can pretty much go into any pub in Fleet now and find someone who'll buy me a pint-nice one, cheers."
