As a permanent reminder Fleet Town Colts refurbished the tea bar at Calthorpe Park and named it Danny's Place. Details of the opening ceremony and photos from the local newspapers are shown below.

On Wednesday 26th March 2007 Fleet Town kindly loaned the use of their pitch at Calthorpe Park to host a memorial game between Calthorpe Park School U16s and Fleet Town Colts U16s. Players from the Colts were split across the two teams. On a wet night the players put on a superb display in his memory with the Calthorpe Park team running out 7-3 winners in front of a crowd of around 400 school friends, family and Fleet Town Colts members.

Danny's dad Gary Nunn was proud to announce that £1000 was collected on the night which has been donated to the Oxford Craniofacial Research Fund at the St John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. A huge thank you to Fleet Town FC, the Colts, Calthorpe Park School and everyone who made this night such a success.

Danny - you would have been proud of the lads. A fitting memorial.

Danny Ayre. R.I.P

As originally reported on our website :

It is with great sadness that we must report the tragic death of one of our promising young players Daniel Ayre following a car accident. A member of the Under 16s squad at Fleet Town Colts, he was travelling home from training when the accident occured. Football mad Daniel was an avid Arsenal and Fleet Town fan and was a regular at matches at Calthorpe Park. Daniel had been with the Club since the Under 12s. Many of you will have known Daniel or his father, Gary Nunn, who has been a coach at the Club for several seasons and currently manages the Under 16s. A popular and able member of the squad Daniel always played football with a smile on his face. He will be sorely missed.

Daniels' funeral will be held on Monday 1st October 2007 at St Mary's Church, Ewshot at 10.30am followed by a committal and service at Aldershot Crematorium at noon. Both services are open to anyone wishing to pay their respects. The village hall in Ewshot will be open from 11am for anyone not wishing to attend the Crematorium. The family will be returning to the village hall after the service in Aldershot has been completed. Anyone wishing to send flowers are politely requested to send them to : The Co-Operative Funeral Directors, 287 Fleet Road, Fleet, Hants GU51 3BT.

Many of you may not know that Daniel had a tumour in his face and had to undergo several operations at the specialist craniofacial unit in Oxford. The family have therefore requested that any donations be made to The Oxford Craniofacial Research Fund, Craniofacial Unit, LG1 West Wing, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headley Way, Headington, Oxford OX3 9DU. Thank you.
